21st century Christian

I want to start a journey of discovery. I want to discover, with anyone else out there, what it means to be a 21st century Christian. I am a well read woman who has taken her biblical and theology classes. I have attended church all my life. I have always considered myself a Christian. However, I am troubled because I can't reconcile what I say and sing in church and what I truly believe in my heart. I entitled this blog "Prayer Closet" because I do feel like I am in the closet spiritually. I dread having a theological discussion with anyone because I am certain that it will end in people fervently praying for my eternal soul. I have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of tenets and beliefs that Christianity has been holding on to that are holding us back as followers of Christ. I will explore these here. Wish me luck...and a little prayer won't hurt either! :)
